CCC Level 1

A relationship-centered foundation course for real-life connection with your dog

Connection, Cooperation & Control™ (CCC) Level 1 is designed for dogs and their humans who want more than obedience cues; it’s for teams who want to build a true partnership.

Rooted in Suzanne Clothier’s relationship-centered approach, CCC focuses on creating meaningful connection, thoughtful cooperation, and calm control through a unique puzzle-based reward system that helps your dog want to work with you, even when you don’t have treats in your pocket.

This course is wonderful for puppies, adolescent dogs, adult dogs, and even dogs who struggle with distractions, overexcitement, or reactivity.

What you and your dog will learn

In Level 1, your dog will learn to solve two food puzzles that become meaningful rewards throughout the course, helping build motivation, teamwork, and thoughtful engagement.

Together, we will work on:

  • voluntary eye contact and check-ins
  • connection and teamwork
  • cheerful cooperation
  • explicit permission
  • a simple relaxation technique to support balance
  • reading and responding to changes in arousal
  • how your body language and intent influence your dog
  • beginning loose leash walking through connection rather than control

Rather than focusing only on cues like sit or stay, this course helps you understand how to work together as a team in the real world, at home, on walks, and around distractions.

Materials needed

To participate in CCC Level 1, there are a few course materials that will need to be purchased separately from an unaffiliated third-party vendor. These items are an essential part of the puzzle-based learning system used throughout the course.

A full materials list, purchase links, and simple setup instructions will be provided after enrollment so you can feel fully prepared before we begin.
